The X Factor USA judge Demi Lovato has opened up about the death of her estranged father Patrick.
The 20-year-old pop star took to Twitter to express her feelings to her father, who is believed to have died of cancer.
“RIP Daddy, I love you... love your little partner,” she posted along with a childhood photo.
Demi has had a rocky relationship with her father since he and her mother, Dianna De La Garza, divorced in 1994.
Demi, who has a history of self-harm and eating disorders, told the New York Daily News in 2009 she had not talked to her father in two years.
“The last time I talked to him was two years ago,” she said at the time.
“You try to have faith in somebody, even when you're the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what else to do.”
Demi missed a photo call with her co-judges Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio, promoting the next season of the show, but she thanked her fans for their support on Twitter.
“I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers, God bless you all, thank you so much love,” wrote Demi.
