Madonna banned from US cinemas

Madonna’s anti-social behaviour has once again landed her in hot water.

Madonna’s anti-social behaviour has once again landed her in hot water – this time with a US cinema chain.

Texas-based theatre chain Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has banned the pop singer from their cinemas after she was caught texting during the New York Film Festival premiere of 12 Years A Slave.

When the 55-year-old was asked to stop using her cellphone by a fellow patron, she reportedly replied, “It’s for business…enslaver!”

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has notoriously strict policies on texting and talking during their screenings, and will eject patrons from their premises if they're caught doing either.

Alamo founder and CEO Tim League, on hearing news of Madonna’s disregard for moviegoers at the screening, tweeted that she was no longer welcome at the chain until she “apologises to movie fans”.

Initially intending it as an “offhand joke, a spur of the moment 140 characters” to get the message of their stance on texting across, he has since confirmed the ban is in place.

“Now that it seems to have taken hold, sure, I’m going to enforce it,” he added.

Madonna has yet to comment on the situation.
