The Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks has become a mum again through a gestational surrogate.

The 38-year-old, who played a frustrated pregnant woman in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, views her new boy Magnus Mitchell Handelman as a Thanksgiving gift.

“As 2012 winds down and Thanksgiving approaches, I have much for which to be thankful – personal, professional, and Presidential. However, nothing can match the joy and excitement my husband and I felt when we recently welcomed our second baby boy,” she announced on her website.

“Magnus joins older brother Felix, thus commencing a decade or more of close hand to hand combat,” said Elizabeth, who is renowned for her sense of humour.

Elizabeth has been open about her fertility struggles in the past, saying she and husband Max Handelman couldn’t conceive because embryos wouldn’t implant in her womb. “Like Felix, Magnus was born via gestational surrogate,” wrote Elizabeth.

“This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime.”

“I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two. For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful… wish me luck,” she wrote.
