It’s not your traditional pre-wedding ritual – the bride standing over the sink, wearing not only her $5000 wedding dress, but also pink rubber gloves.
But Pauline Stockhausen has always marched to the beat of her own drum. So when she wanted to do the dishes on her wedding day, that’s exactly what she did.
“I’ve worn the dress 1000 times since the wedding,” she says. “I love it. I’m a bigger girl, so I’m normally in pants.”
The day Pauline married Jason Searle in March 2010 was the best of her life, and trying on her dress yet again – albeit for the first time in a year – brings back all the emotions of her big day, as well as a welcome surprise.
“It’s too big!” she exclaims. “I’ve lost weight – there’s lots more room around my boobs. On the actual day, all anyone could see was my boobs! You could have got a credit card and swiped it through there!
“But this dress symbolises the life I always wanted. Getting married to Jason was the best day of my life, so it’s nice to remember that.” The social media guru also says she managed to have the world’s first Twitter wedding.
“I organised everything through Twitter,” she says. “We tweeted live throughout the day.” And when someone online dared Pauline to wear her dress for a day on her second wedding anniversary, of course she obliged.
“I wore it to work, to the coffee shop and when I dropped my daughter off at school. She wasn’t even embarrassed, she loved it!”
