Pippa Middleton was set to arrive on our New Zealand shores this week to compete in the grueling endurance race the Speight's Coast to Coast – but the sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has bypassed the competition to join Kateon a sun-soaked holiday in Mustique.
PregnantKateand her husband Prince William are enjoying a short break on the Caribbean island renting out a $35,000 a week, five-bedroom holiday villa – and the rest ofKate’sfamily, including Pippa, are staying in a separate location.
Pippa has yet to reveal the reason why she bowed out of the New Zealand challenge, after declaring she was going to take part in the event last December in The Spectator magazine.
“Another year, another challenge. For the last four years, I have given myself a feat to accomplish, from sailing the Atlantic to climbing Mont Blanc,” Pippa said.
“It may sound dauntingly hearty, but really it’s just good fun, plus it provides some routine, discipline and fitness.
“Next year I am hoping to do the Coast to Coast in New Zealand, which is a triathlon (running, cycling and kayaking) from the South Island to Sumner Beach on the Pacific. It’s in February, so I’d better hold back on the food and drink, starting now.”
The Speight’s Coast to Coast starts tomorrow in Kumara Beach on the West Coast.
